How the Solar Calculator Works

The Solantiq Solar Calculator uses PVGIS data from the European Commission to calculate the expected yield of your photovoltaic system. Enter your location, roof parameters and electricity consumption to receive a detailed analysis including payback period, annual return, and CO₂ savings.

The calculation accounts for local irradiance, temperature effects, system losses, and current feed-in tariffs. You can also simulate the impact of battery storage, EV charging and heat pumps.

Frequently Asked Questions

What can the Solantiq Solar Calculator compute?

The calculator computes expected annual yield in kWh, payback period, annual return on investment, CO₂ savings, and optimal system size for your location. You can also include battery storage, EV charger and heat pump in the calculation.

How accurate is the calculator?

The yield calculation is based on PVGIS satellite data from the European Commission (EU JRC) with over 15 years of weather data. The typical deviation from actual yield is less than 5%. Our full calculation methodology is documented on the Methodology page.

What data do I need for the calculation?

You need your location (address or postal code), roof pitch and orientation, and your annual electricity consumption. Optionally, you can specify shading, desired system size and storage capacity.

Is the solar calculator free?

Yes, the Solantiq Solar Calculator is completely free and requires no registration. No personal data is collected — you get your results instantly.

Which countries does the calculator support?

The calculator supports 13+ countries including the US, UK, Australia, Canada, India, Japan, and all major European markets. Electricity prices, incentives and feed-in tariffs are automatically adjusted based on your detected country.
